Robin 4441bb5e8c Add snapshot coverage for all call layouts
Snapshotting the layout templates so that they get reviewed as a whole feels a little more straightforward than the existing tests.
2026-09-29 03:20:14 +02:00
Robin f2f49315eb Make drag & drop performant in all layouts
While also giving the logic for drag & drop of a floating tile a common home in the view model layer.
2026-09-28 19:53:30 +02:00
Robin 99256fa01c Make drag & drop of floating tiles less janky
This fixes an issue where upon dragging a floating tile to a different corner of the interface, it would briefly move toward its original position before jerking back in the intended direction.

## Testing against a matrix-js-sdk branch in CI
Linking covers local development. In CI, `scripts/layered.sh` plays the same
role for `matrix-js-sdk`: after the usual frozen install, `scripts/fetchdep.sh`
looks for a matrix-js-sdk branch with the same name as the pull request's head
branch (in the fork first, when the pull request comes from one). If there is
one, it is cloned, packed and installed over the locked version. If there is
none, the install stays as `pnpm-lock.yaml` pins it.
This means a change that needs a not yet merged matrix-js-sdk change can be tested
by giving both branches the same name. This mirrors how element-web tests against
matrix-js-sdk. Once the matrix-js-sdk branch is merged and deleted, the pull
request falls back to the lockfile and needs a lockfile bump to stay green,
which is also what keeps `main` consistent after the merge.
## Background
Information, why this approach is used can be found in the [linking concept reasoning](./linking_concept_reasoning.md) document.

Split out from index.css so that Element Call as a component can have these
without also being given the standalone page's layout, which would style the
host's own document. Compound's stylesheets — the design tokens, the component
styles and the fonts they use — are not here either: as a component, Element
Call shares the host's copy of Compound (it is a peer dependency, so that what
Compound floats into the host's body, tooltips and menus, is styled by the
host's stylesheet), and index.css loads it for the page.
What remains here still speaks of the document — normalize.css and the
typography below use bare element selectors, and the custom properties are
declared on `:root` — which is right for the page, and is why the component
build rewrites it: there every selector is confined to Element Call's root
element (see component/build/scopeStylesToRoot.ts), with `html`, `body` and
`:root` becoming that element. Nothing needs to be written differently here for
that to work, but nothing here may rely on reaching the host's document either.
